A message from our Founder, Robert L. “Rob” Routhieaux:
The Holistic Livelihood concept and approach have been in development throughout my long and rewarding career.
My early career focused on restaurant and retail management. These experiences included stints in pizza, hardware, ice cream, restaurants, and more. As a manager in these diverse settings, I learned valuable insights about managing to individual differences – and the importance of understanding people’s lives outside of work.
These experiences provided great context for the next chapter in my career – earning a PhD in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, and Communication. I was then blessed to work full-time as a college professor for twenty-five years across several different institutions. In that time, I taught more than twenty different courses, specializing in Entrepreneurship, Nonprofit Management, and Leadership Development.
In addition to my college teaching career, I stayed active in my community in many ways. I worked with many amazing nonprofits, mostly arts and cultural organizations, as a volunteer, board member, advisor, and supporter. In these roles I have helped to produce many wonderful festivals and cross-cultural events. I have been honored to lead more than one hundred community-based workshops for entrepreneurs and nonprofit professionals on a wide range of topics. I have helped coach youth from five-year-olds to college athletes in tee-ball, baseball, softball, and even soccer (an interesting story).
When the Covid pandemic altered our world in 2020, I gave up tenure and a great teaching position to move west and be closer to family. As classes shifted to all online or hybrid, I recognized that I was not suited to the online, work-at-home lifestyle. While this approach is well-suited for some, it was not for me.
In moving west, near the mountains and ocean, I was fortunate to find an exceptionally rewarding job supporting entrepreneurs and nonprofit founders and leaders.
Alas, I was drawn back to Minnesota to be present in the lives of my wife, kids, cat, and friends.
And now I am here to help you as you navigate your journey through life. I don’t pretend to have all the answers. What I do have is the ability to listen, to understand your circumstances, to work with you in a non-judgmental fashion, and to help you move forward and achieve more of your goals and dreams. And to live a life where you feel balanced, aligned, and true to yourself.
I will be honored to join you in your journey.
Please contact me at info@holisticlivelihood.com to arrange a time to meet.
Peace. Love. Hugs. Namaste.
Rob (or Roberto, if you prefer – which I often do, especially when traveling)
P.S. – I feel lucky to have traveled to all fifty states and Puerto Rico, and fifteen other countries. I have had the honor of working with individuals from all corners of the globe, and pride myself on my ability to build meaningful relationships with people from all backgrounds. I would love to get to know you in deep and meaningful ways.
